Shut up Hank

by Tony Baldwin on June 18th, 2008

Can someone tell Hank Steinbrenner to shut up already? I’m sick of hearing his complaints about injuries and his rants about no designated hitter in the National League. It’s true baseball, Hank! The NL plays the game it’s supposed to be played, without the DH and with the pitcher swinging the lumber.

I love watching the NL teams play because it takes a little more strategy than American League baseball. There are double-switches, pinch hitters, and sacrifice bunts all because the pitcher is in the lineup. But, that’s the way baseball is supposed to be.

If you are concerned about your pitching staff’s well-being when having to hit and run, then hire a strength and conditioning coach that can teach them to be athletes.

So, I’ll say it one more time. Shut up Hank. The NL is playing the game the way it was meant to be played.

I don’t know if I agree with it being the way the game is supposed to be played. If you want to look at it like that then you should throw out any rule changes made in the last century (raise that mound back up!)

I do agree that he should shut up though. Between him and his old man.. my god.

I can agree with you in some way. I’m in no way bashing AL baseball. I understand there is strategy in using the DH, but I prefer the NL style. But yes, Hank needs to quit mouthing off.

I think it’s definitely a lot more fun to try and figure out a manager’s moves in the NL because it brings a whole new dimension to the ballgame with double-switches and when to remove the pitcher from the game.

Then again, I sure do love watching David Ortiz hit and knowing that if Manny (or anyone else) is too hurt to play the field then they can always DH.

Yes you are right with the NL, and how they play the game they are suppose to. It makes the game more interesting to watch pitchers hit and help themselves out.
The only thing that I do not agree with is the Pitchers in the AL not being athletes. First off its not thier choice to be in the AL. I am sure if the pitching staff from all Al and Nl switch it would be the same argument as it is now. Every pitcher is an athlete, they are the best player on the field ,they control tempo and out come ofthe game.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on who you ask, there are too many powerful baseball purists who will never allow the change of the DH or the pitcher hitting. If I had it my both leagues would both play without the DH and there would be NO INTERLEAGUE PLAY!!!! NONE. Zilch.

But i think things will stay the same for a long long time

Hank Steinbrenner will be Hank Steinbrenner. He hasn’t changed much sence the 60’s 70’s. He just loves to hear himself talk and make a fol of himself. Only he can pull it off because of “The Money”. Heis truely one of the, if not the biggest Moron that walked New York and the World. People just Suck up to him because he’s Rich. I surely wouldn’t put up with his Shit even if I woked for the Jerk. He’s a Rich Low Class Person.

I just read where Hank said the Yanks will go on a hot streak. I think he’s having Flash Backs from Last Year. The Yanks are and will remain a 3rd place team this year. Hittings O.K. sometimes, Pitching is not worthy of 2nd Place and the Fireing of Joe Torre just ripped that club to pieces. Now the players are wondering who’s next. Would you want to play for a Moron who after all these Decades, still don’t know Jack About Baseball.

Prior to last night they had won 7 straight. Granted it was against horrible under .500 teams but still.
