Shawn Chacon on the Astros Radar?
Shawn Chacon, a 30-year-old pitcher, is negotiating with the Houston Astros to join their 2008 pitching staff, according to mlb.com.
With the Astros, Chacon would likely be a starting pitcher, even though he spent much of last year as a relief pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. With training camp only a few days away, it’s likely that both sides would want to come to an agreement sooner rather than later.
Chacon broke into the big leagues with the Colorado Rockies in 2001. In his career, Chacon has 43 wins and an ERA of 4.98. He has started 119 games in his career.
Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Chacon is only one of nine players in the history of baseball to call Alaska their home state. Fellow pitcher and current Boston Red Sox Curt Schilling was also born in Anchorage.

I think the Astros should pass on Chacon. He isn’t the player he used to be.
