A-Rod to skip Home Run Derby
What more could New York Yankees fans want? Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz is no longer taking center stage at Yankee Stadium for the State Farm Call Your Shot contest to emulate Babe Ruth. Maybe one of the Yankees will get to do it! How about Alex Rodriguez? Well - that won’t be happening since A-Rod is passing on the event.
I guess it’s not every year that the All-Star game takes place at Yankee Stadium. It’s also the last time ever that the All-Star game will happen at the historic park. This could be a chance for not just Yankee fans, but all baseball fans to watch such a great event take place in one of the greatest baseball stadiums. Maybe for once, the best player in the game could put aside his ego and put on a show for the fans. But it won’t happen.
Rodriguez is the highest paid player in the game is worried about his swing. (Or so he says.) I personally think it’s because he’s never done well in the event - never finishing higher than sixth. A-Rod has a lot to learn from some of the guys that will participate. Sure, he’ll be in attendance, and maybe even helping out the ESPN commentators during the event, but it would be nice if he would suck it up for once and give the fans a thrill.
